Our Luxury Hotel in Camps Bay is seeking an Assistant Executive Housekeeper to join our bespoke team. Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Relevant certificate / diploma in Hotel Management or Accommodation Services
  • At least 2 - 5 years experience in a 4/5 star property of a similar size
  • OPERA experience
  • Own transport beneficial

Main purpose of the role:

  • Ensure that rooms are serviced and maintained to the standards laid down by the company
  • Ensure cleaning equipment is correctly cleaned and stored
  • Follow procedure for the use of chemicals and cleaning equipment to prevent damage
  • Ensure operation of the housekeeping department on a daily basis
  • Maintain good communication with supervisors and Room attendants
  • Daily spot checks of ALL rooms to ensure 5 star standards
  • Checking of all monthly stock takes for amenities, chemicals and linen for housekeeping
  • Perform and assist in cleaning duties as per operational requirements
  • Investigate complaints about services and equipment, and take corrective action
  • Be familiar with the Health and Safety measures of the property
  • Hold and/or attend monthly departmental meetings with your departments
  • Assist with training staff
  • Ensure dress code of staff is up to standard
  • Ordering, purchasing and charging out of uniforms
  • Staff locker monitoring and inventory
  • Ensuring that all furniture is neatly placed in each area of the hotel and complies with the agreed specs of the chairman
  • All the décor painting, sculptures etc. are positioned so that the best aesthetic look for the are can be achieved
  • Ensure all furniture and accessories are well maintained and clean at all times
  • All aesthetics files are kept up to date and monitored (not to be removed from Rooms division without permission)
  • Plants are healthy and well maintained in public areas
  • Ensure correct procedures in the housekeeping department with regards to purchases and purchase order books


  • To ensure effective liaison between Reservations, Front Office, Housekeeping and maintenance
  • To assist with any Village N Life properties writing your scope of expertise as requested by the Chairman
  • To assist all HOD’s in the department with anything they may need to perform at their highest level and to relieve them while they are on annual leave, days sick or other
  • To be a good Ambassador for Village N Life.
