Job Description
A position exists in the Gauteng region for an executive chef reporting to the unit manager. The purpose of the position is developing and planning menus, establishing recipes and food purchase specifications. The incumbent will also coordinate, execute, supervise, and evaluate all the food production activities of a fast-paced operation. The Executive Chef will assist in the management of strategic and day-to-day operations. The duties include hiring and training staff to cook their dishes, expediting orders to maintain a steady flow of dishes and creating dishes to add to the menu. Ensure that all HSE standards are met and applied all times.
Education and Experience:
- 5 working experience as Executive chef
- Experience working within budget guidelines to deliver results is compulsory
- Relevant tertiary qualification in food and beverage services or culinary arts is compulsory
Key areas of responsibilities:
- Developing unique and cuisine-appropriate menus
- Collaborating with the Restaurant Manager to set item prices
- Staying current on developing trends in the restaurant industry
- Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the company standards and health code regulations
- Monitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors
- Hiring, training and supervising kitchen staff
- Assisting and directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating, and delivery
- Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques
- Preparing meals and completing prep support as needed
