Job Description

Job Purpose

The incumbent of this role is responsible to safely perform maintenance, repair and fault finding to ensure that customers are provided with simulators that meet the regulatory requirements to perform training.

The role will be required to support the optimization of the Simulator Section.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the Flight Technical Maintenance and Standards strategy and plan relevant to own work outputs
  • Implements Flight Technical Maintenance and Standards strategy within own area of responsibility
  • Provides recommendations to support the implementation of the Flight Technical Maintenance and Standards strategy and plan
  • Contributes to the budget management and containment of costs
  • Applies cost saving initiatives continuously
  • Provides recommendations on profitability
  • Oversees the correct application of processes and systems in area of responsibility
  • Utilises resources in area of responsibility/ own area of work in a time and cost effective manner
  • Utilises technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations
  • Executes work outputs according to customer requirements
  • Adheres to Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
  • Delivers on regular, irregular and timeous reporting of information to key stakeholders
  • Participates in continuous optimisation programmes, projects and initiatives
  • Solve technical problems related to simulators that typically be solved by properly interpreting maintenance manuals or similar documents
  • Effectively perform calibrations, adjustments, tests and repairs of simulator systems and associated electronic equipment
  • Capture information accurately and ensure a high standard documentation to ensure correct record keeping on components and equipment
  • Apply trouble-shooting procedures in the maintenance of interfaces and peripheral equipment used with computers and interprets mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schematics
  • Perform preventative maintenance on simulators and associated training devices using maintenance requirement cards and instruction books
  • Maintain a Quality Work Instruction Manual covering all disciplines

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4
  • Avionic Trade certificate (Aircraft Radio, Instrument or Electrical)
  • Full certification (hardware/software) or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Licence (AME) required
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a technician within the airline industry including period as an apprentice/learner
  • Minimum 2 years' simulator industry experience required
