Position: ASP Performing Arts and Events Coordinator
An exciting yet dynamic job opportunity has become available within the programmes department at Sybrand Park, Cape Town.
The Amy Foundation is a non-profit organisation (NGO) that offers various programmes to develop and empower youth, ages 5-30, reaching over 2000 youth everyday living in challenged and vulnerable communities within the Western Cape.
We are recruiting for an experienced, passionate, flexible and driven individual to occupy the ASP Performing Arts and Events Coordinator position within a fast pace and dynamic working environment. The role will report directly to the ASP Programmes Manager.
Specific duties and responsibility include, but not limited to:
§ RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE: Cultivate and maintain relationship with partners and liaise with the various stakeholders for the performing arts part of the various events.
§ Identify and recommend potential partners.
§ Continually be on the lookout for potential new partners.
§ EVENTS: Develop, organize, and coordinate certain events like annual Golf days, Gala Fundraising Dinners, Cape Town Tourism, music festivals and other fundraising events that require an element of performing arts.
§ Successfully implement the agreed number of Foundation events each year for the performing arts segment of that event.
§ Coordinate the involvement of various staff members in staging different events.
§ Successfully source appropriate resources for staging certain events.
§ Keep appraised of Performing Arts and cultural events and projects occurring within the Western Cape.
§ Help develop and manage the planning of Performing Arts programmes and cultural events.
§ Ensure all deadlines are met and high standards of work are maintained.
§ Coordinate and oversee the quality and outcomes of the performing arts discipline.
§ Assist Centre Coordinators to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance of performing arts staff with appropriate policies, procedures, curriculum, and specifications.
§ Support the Centre Coordinators in preparing the monthly reports and records on the progress and status of performing arts activities and provide other special reports for management or outside agencies as required.
§ Coordinate activities of the event work plan, determine priorities, and ensure necessary equipment, transport, etc. is available and provided.
§ Evaluate performing arts activities for effectiveness and develop improved methods.
§ Analyze results and recommend and/or take appropriate action in conjunction with the Centre Coordinators.
§ Provide technical advice, problem-solving assistance answers to questions and clearly define performing arts goals for ASP.
§ Attend to the following activities:
o Arrange external performing events for the performing arts discipline.
o Keep inventory of all resources and equipment and manage accordingly.
o Ensure that all event issues are attended to and addressed.
Minimum requirements:
ü Matric plus relevant diploma or certificate.
ü Clear Criminal record- Essential.
ü Must have a valid Driver’s License- Essential.
ü Knowledge of issues pertaining to the area of assignment.
ü Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
ü Exemplary organizational skills and ability to organize and manage multiple, detailed projects simultaneously.
ü Skills in both verbal and written communication.
ü Ability to work some nights, early mornings, and weekends for events.
